Picture tag anatomy
Basically a picture tag looks something like this:
It consists of the following parts:
- Image:Flag_of_the_Czech_Republic_small.jpg: Name of the previously uploaded picture file. (Required)
- thumb: Mode of display. (Optional)
- 40px: Size of picture. (Optional)
- Czech Republic: Text of caption/tool-tip. (Optional)
The picture will also work as a link to its description page.
By changing the attributes of the tag the picture will appear in different ways, as in the examples below.
(You can choose edit on the top or the right of the page to see how picture tags work in context, just please do not save changes unless you really need to change this page!)
For anything more elaborate than these examples show you should first thoroughly check the Wikipedia Help:Editing pages.
Embedded, defined size
Here the picture appears "embedded" , 40 pixels wide. Note that it can be "clicked" to open the page describing the picture and that the text Czech Republic appears as a tool-tip when you hover the mouse over the picture.
