Peter 18Jul16: This is a page to act as a workbench for my testing on W10 and macOS.

Some DEVEL FIXMADE bugs get "parked" by me as they involve downloading plug-ins from sites I know nothing about - I am not prepared to risk that.

Parked - because I don't have the wherewithall to test these

  • P2 1227 - OSX: Audacity "System" language choice always produces English irrespective of Mac system locale. - FAILS testing on Mac
  • P2 1073 - Mac: Audacity language set to "System" sets Traditional Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese incorrectly. - linked to bug #1227


To be tested

  • P2 1702 - Summary: LAME, FFmpeg and other dll loading woes in macOS
  • P2 1567 - Mac Sierra: LAME, FFmpeg and some plugins disappear. (intermittent) works for me (and Cliff)


Tested on Mac

  • P2 1608 - LV2 Chain problems: LV2s crash when used in Chains, or are unavailable in Chains if the LADSPA version is also enabled - tested ok on Mac by Bill
  • P5 96 - "Latency problem" warning when audio is pushed behind zero occurs for both tracks of a stereo pair I can't figure this - but it looks ok on Mac and W10 - Bill thinks this is ok on MAc

  • P3 1165 - Enh: Keyboard preference key bindings can be way over to right- works ok as intended, but could be improved
  • P3 1290 - "Split New" clips cannot be dragged back into the track they came from.
  • P4 634 - Timeline does not zoom correctly when playback is paused
  • P3 1315 - AIFF extension always added for Other uncompressed files (or for any export format on Linux) after saving project or importing file

  • P1 1698 - Defaults button of Keyboard preferences violates assertion in Mac debug build
  • P1 1668 - Loss of "click to place gain/pan slider" ability in Track Control Panel. Gain/Pan adjustment boxes opened with mouse have no affect
  • P1 1669 - Fitting multiple tracks removes Track Dropdown Menu and Track Close button
  • P1 1697 - Modifying selection with Snap-To is wrong
  • P1 1688 - MIDI Note tracks can be stretched beyond the Note track boundary - making notes inaccessible
  • P1 1690 - Editing disabled after playing MIDI with C, 1, B, etc.
  • P1 1636 L8R Mac-only - Equalization: Crash selecting the "RIAA" or "Telephone" curves
  • P1 1683 - Version 4 Nyquist effects crash when applied to stereo tracks
  • P2 641 - Moonphase: Append record with overdub may cause spurious playthrough and may crash. I don't get this on Mac or W10
  • P2 1704 - Import and Open default to the Audacity app's installation folder
  • P2 388 - Mac: Recording Preferences has an unsupported "Hardware Playthrough" option
  • P2 437 - Write fails without error message box on disk full
  • P2 1681 - Dark Highlighting is unreadable.
  • P2 1632 - Exports in excess of about 24 hours are silently truncated
  • P2 1677 - Swap two tracks and escape leads to crash on exit
  • P2 1630 - Accessibility of the length/end radio buttons - looks ok to me on W10 and Mac - but I would like to see further testing by David Bailes. David says OK
  • P2 1672 - OS window close button crashes Audacity if Screenshot Tools are open. File > Close hides Screenshot tools and then any closure method crashes -
  • P2 1667 - Vertical Scale Zoom Out is broken
  • P2 1338 - Mac: Opening non-RTP effect while Voxengo Span is open freezes Audacity, as does opening Span options.
  • P2 1656 - (Windows) Disabled Edit Toolbar buttons not skipped for navigation - tested and marked resolved by James
  • P2 1703 - (Sierra) Double click on .aup icon when Audacity is not yet running opens empty project
  • P2 1590 - Mac: Duplicate working plugins not removed from previous installation looks ok on Mac to me - Bill tested this too
  • P2 1627 - Scrub/Seek when the selected playback device is unavailable spawns continual errors, requiring force quit
  • P2 36 - Mixer Board release-noted issues
  • P2 1502 - VST and AU: effects preview incorrectly if track rate not 44100 Hz or project rate differs from track rate - testable only on Mac for now - needs plug-ins downloaded - tested OK on Mac by Bill
  • P3 1715 - Theme change in the case of multiple open windows is only complete in the foreground window.
  • P3 1696 - Dragging MIDI track into Audacity says the file can't be played
  • P2 1699 - Selected keyboard prefs line unreadable in 3 of 4 themes on Mac
  • P2 1603 - (mac) AUNBandEQ crashes Audacity
  • P2 1701 - Mac: Text descriptors in Selection Toolbar become invisible after Open command - tests OK on Mac
  • P2 1404 - VSTs with bypass button cease to function if the plugin is closed with bypass button unchecked. Needs plug-in(s) downloaded, I'm not doing this - I suggested that the original bug poster could effect the test. BUT Paul says "should be demonstrable with the built-in Bass and Treble effect"
  • P3 1652 - (Mac) The Ctrl modifier in keyboard shortcuts is not displayed in the menus, but does function
  • P3 1520 - Timeline Quick-Play plays selection/from editing cursor if snapping to seconds formats
  • P3 1623 - Using Ctrl+V to Paste one type of track into another causes the Play button to display incorrectly
  • P3 1711 - Note Tracks pressing Shift+Space does not invoke loop play
  • P3 1292 - Enh: Zoom Normal (Ctrl+2) may move selection off screen
  • P3 1691- Shortcuts for Mute and Solo do not work on Note tracks (MIDI)
  • P3 1635 - Hard to drag stereo track vertically from channel nearest target track
