Viewing and Downloading Plug-ins

• To view the plug-in code:

Left-click the "View/Download" link. Nyquist plug-ins are plain text files with a ".NY" file extension. Most good web browsers are able to display the code as text.

• To download the plug-in:

Right-click the download link and select "Save Link As..." (Firefox/Chrome), "Save As..." (Internet Explorer), "Download Linked File As..." (Safari). Other modern web browsers usually have a similar right-click option, except for Microsoft Edge. For further information, please see the documentation for your web browser.

Alternatively, view the file by left-clicking the link, then use the "Save" command from your web browser's File menu.

Microsoft Edge does not currently support downloading these text files. From Edge, use the "More actions" button ··· top right then "Open with Internet Explorer", or use some other browser.

Installing Plug-ins

To install a Nyquist plug-in, place its ".NY" file in the Audacity "Plug-ins" folder. In Audacity 2.1.1 or later, use Effect > Manage... or Effect > Add / Remove Plug-Ins... to open the Effect Manager. Select the plug-in(s) you want to install, then click Enable and OK.

In obsolete versions of Audacity there is no Effect Manager. Restart Audacity after placing the ".NY" file in the "Plug-ins" folder.

More recent Nyquist effects may not appear in old versions of Audacity or may not work correctly. The current version of Audacity is available on the Audacity website.

List of available Plug-ins

Feedback and bug reports: All new plug-ins added to this list are tested in the Audacity 2.x version current at the time, but many of the older plug-ins are still in need of testing. Please report any bugs to the Nyquist section of the Audacity forum (or alternatively to our feedback email address) so they may be fixed. Some Nyquist plug-ins are unsuitable for processing long audio tracks. If a plug-in causes excessive memory use and causes Audacity to freeze or crash when used on long tracks, please let us know so that we can either limit the plug-in to short selections or add a note to the plug-in description so as to warn other users of the possibility. Please also let us know which plug-ins you like and find useful as that will help us to develop the types of plug-ins that users want.
