GarageBand is written by Apple, for macs only, and is found at http://www.apple.com/ilife/garageband/

However, it is closed source payware.

The main reason I started using Audacity was because I was adding music to a spoken word track, sourced from mp3. GarageBand would simply convert to raw audio data, and that would be that. Any saving as mp3 later would have to reconvert.

In general, GarageBand is GREAT for getting a few quick ideas "down on paper". However, with extended, semi-professional use it's limitations become more than apparent.
