  • As alternative to contact suggestions being an "Instruction" panel, it could be a table with the #EEEEFF background used elsewhere in the GSoC category. I think it would look nicer if emphasized a bit more than standard text. - Gale
  • Re James' suggestion of "grading" projects by "difficulty", I like this (here and in More GSoC Ideas), even if there is the caveat that changing the exact content of a project may change its grading. We could either put some "stars" or similar by each project e.g five stars = "extreme", three = "moderate" , one = "easiest", or (not as good?) section the projects by grading. If I was a 1st year programmer with audio interests, I might find it quite difficult to choose from the numerous listed ideas, so an "ease" grading that gave me some idea if it was well matched to my expertise level might help. - Gale
    • Stars suggest a grading - that we prefer the hard projects to the easy ones. Possibly 1 to 5 spanners would work (suggesting technical difficulty). Probably safest is just a phrase like easy, easy-to-moderate-difficulty, easy-to-extreme-difficulty, moderate-difficulty, moderate-to-extreme-difficulty, extreme-difficulty.... Needs more thought. - James
    • You're right about the possible implication of stars, but spanners made me laugh when I saw that (not that I have a better visual suggestion). Maybe we just want "easy", "moderate", "difficult" (or similar) modified with "+" and "-" where appropriate? I think that is understandable. - Gale
    • Maybe the laugh-factor makes spanner-icons worth it, but like I said, words are probably safest. I'll give words a go, and I'll try your idea of +'s and -'s in some form. - James
  • If someone has time we need to look over our shoulder at what information other GSoC projects are putting on their wikis - particularly one's which have the experience of having participated in the past. Eclipse wiki has some good information on mentor organisation expectations of students - e.g. that we know how much time they can/will-be devoting to GSoC. - James.
