So I made a fork some weeks ago, and am trying to get up to speed on Windows. Some experience, using command-line git (although I wish I was using Tortoise or something):
My fork was well out of date but I cloned it anyway:
and got an 'audacity' dir
'cd audacity' and following https://help.github.com/articles/configuring-a-remote-for-a-fork/
git remote add upstream https://github.com/audacity/audacity
and then following the rest of the instructions in https://help.github.com/articles/syncing-a-fork/ I did
git fetch upstream
git checkout master
git merge upstream/master
and then pushed my changes https://help.github.com/articles/pushing-to-a-remote/
and a username/password later my https://github.com/MartynShaw/audacity says "This branch is even with audacity:master"
So I appear to have my local version in sych with 'master'.
But how do I have a look at somebody else's fork, what the are doing?
It would be great if this page actually had instructions for novice win/git users like me.
