Menu Template is intended to emphasize the text of menu paths and interface paths (either in programs or in operating system dialogues).

Menu Template can be used for any program, or part of an operating system such as a control panel. It can also be used for highlighting a required sequence of buttons, dropdown boxes or tabs in a dialogue window. Keyboard shortcuts for quick access to menu items or buttons however should be highlighted with Template:Shortcut.

NOTE: This template should be used only for menu and interface paths (either in programs or in operating system dialogues). (Other templates are available for other uses, see Templates.)

Usage of Menu Template:

{{menu|text to be formatted}}

For example, typing this:

Click {{menu|View > Toolbars > Show "Meter Toolbar"}}.

will cause the following to be displayed:

Click View > Toolbars > Show "Meter Toolbar".
Two special menu templates are available for use in advice and alert templates. They are:
  • menuadvice - use this inside an advice template
  • menualert - use this inside an alert template

Ignore the following, it's only a representation of formatting and a parameter dummy.
