{{Hint|1='''Gale 18 Jul 11:''' I've suggested a somewhat more economical alternative with a more manageable intro with placeholders for your Nyquist links plus links in the headers. I think the TOC helps on the whole. It may be possible to hack the TOC to only display the plug-in category headers.<p>Have you decided whether to link to the individual plug-in descriptions? At its simplest, just add <b>[[Nyquist Effect Plug-ins#</b> in front of the plug-in name and <b>|<name of plug-in>]]</b> behind it. I might even volunteer as my word processor has a very good find and replace.</p>

<p>'''Steve 20 Jul 11:''' I tried using links to each plug-in, but it looked over-the-top repetition as there is already a TOC on each download page. Also, I think it's better to link to the download page rather than directly to the plug-in so that visitors can see any information at the top of the download page before downloading. I'm thinking that it may even be better to link to the top of the page rather than to the TOC. However, if you disagree I'll bow to your greater experience.<br>

I like the more economical version, and I've added "Regular interval audio splitter" and "Plug-in authors".<br>

Does this page need anything else before going live?

== Installing Plug-ins ==

Nyquist plug-ins may be available as plain text files with the file extension '''.NY''', or as a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZIP_%28file_format%29 ZIP] archive file. The NY file must be extracted from the ZIP archive before it can be used.

To install Nyquist plug-ins, place the NY file in the Plug-Ins folder inside the Audacity installation folder.

<ul><li> On Windows computers, this is usually under '''C:\Program Files\'''.

<li> On Mac OS X, it is usually under '''Applications'''.

<li> On Linux this is usually '''/usr/share/audacity/''' if you installed a repository package of Audacity or '''/usr/local/share/audacity''' if you [[CompilingAudacityForBeginners|compiled

]] Audacity. '''Note:''' You must log in as root to access /usr and repository packages of Audacity may overwrite this folder. An easier alternative may be to create '''~/.audacity-files/plug-ins/''' in your home folder (the "." in the path means it is a hidden folder). </ul>

Restart Audacity, then the plug-ins will appear underneath the divider in the "Effect", "Generate" or "Analyze" menus.

== Plug-in Lists ==

{{Hint|Some plug-ins may require a minimum version of Audacity to function correctly as indicated in the listing.}}

Each plug-in description has links to ''View'' and to ''Download'' the plug-in.

*Left-clicking the '''''View''''' link displays the plug-in code in your browser. You can right-click over the link and "Save Target As " or "Save Link As" to download the NY file.

*Left-clicking the '''''Download''''' link will download the same NY file archived inside a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZIP_%28file_format%29 ZIP] file. The ZIP archive may also contain help files or other useful information. The contents of the ZIP file must be extracted before they can be used.

**If left-click does not download the ZIP correctly, right-click over the link and "Save Target As " or "Save Link As" instead.
